Why imports failCommon questions
Most answers live in the app’s Settings and in the questions alongside.
Only to import a recipe from a web page. Everything else — recipes, photos, meal plans, shopping lists, backups — works without a connection.
On your device, in the app’s private SQLite database and documents folder. There is no Flavour Forge account or server holding a copy.
Open Settings and export a backup. The app creates a ZIP file containing your recipes, photos, meal plans and shopping lists. Keep it somewhere safe, because it is the only copy outside your device.
Open Settings and choose the restore option, then select the ZIP backup file. Restoring replaces the app’s local data with the contents of that backup.
Flavour Forge reads public schema.org Recipe metadata from the page. Sites behind a login, pages with no recipe metadata, or sites that build their content entirely in the browser may not work. The page is fetched directly by your device, not by a Flavour Forge server.
Recipe import works from a web page URL. Recipes from PDFs, screenshots or cookbooks can be added manually, with ingredients, method and photos.
Delete individual recipes in the app, or uninstall the app to remove its local database and photos. There is no server copy to delete. Export a backup first if you may want the data later.
Flavour Forge is built for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android, with six languages: English, German, Spanish, Serbian, Bosnian and Russian.
